I have never heard many of the views presented in this book. It wasn't something that was really open for discussion in my conservative family, and it was enlightening to hear different takes on this issue. If anything, it convinced me that there are many questions that don't have a cut and dried answer. It convinced me that prayerful reading of the Scriptures is the only way to decide what you think about many things, and even then it could change. After reading this book, I most agreed with the Male Leadership view and disagreed most with the Egalitarian view.

There were many things I agreed with in Susan T. Foh's essay entitled "A Male Leadership View: The Head of the Woman is the Man." The first principal Foh introduces is that of the infallibility of Scripture. This is a principal that I strongly believe and is at the core of my Christianity. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness." Foh takes his scripture literally and makes the assumption (rightly) that Scripture cannot be outdated because it was God-breathed and therefore timeless. I also agree with her view of Biblical culture and its relevance. She states that "God chooses the time and place for his revelation to be recorded, and he is not bound by either" (70). She also makes the assertion that the reader of Scripture must be aware of his or her own cultural perceptions and limitations. That's something that I forget to take into account much of the time, but something that I agree with fully.
